About Us
I'm curious about training to become a registered psychotherapist, what are my first steps?

We recommend you book on the next TA101 2 day workshop to get a taste of the training at Psychotherapy Institute.  This internationally accredited and recognised introduction to Transactional Analysis will give you a taster of the approach and methods you will learn in the 4 year Level 7 PG Diploma in Psychotherapy.  If you wish to proceed after attending this course, you can complete the online application form and will be invited to interview with our Director.

Who is the main tutor at the Psychotherapy Institute?

The primary course tutor for the academic year is Susie Hewitt TSTA-P.  There will be various visiting trainers bringing specialist knowledge and experience throughout the year.  All trainers at Psychotherapy Institute will be 'provisional' or 'qualified' Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analysts unless they are 'specialist' visiting tutors who bring specific subject knowledge and experience.

Is all the training in-person?

We are pleased to provide an accessible, comfortable and embodied learning experience at Psychotherapy Institute and will be offering our 4-year programme through in-person learning at St. Peter's House.  Our CPD offerings will be offered through both in-person and online settings to meet demand.

Are there bursaries available?

There are various bursaries that trainees may apply for through many of our accrediting bodies such as UKATA, UKCP, EATA and ITAA.  For more information, speak to your course tutor.

What are the training dates and fees for enrolment in the PG Dip 1st year 2024/5?

Please note that each module starts at 9.30am and finishes at 5.30pm.  

N.B there are 11 monthly modules to make up the total training hours required by UKCP for registration (600hrs minimum of core training).

Course fees for Intake in YR1 2024-2028 are £2950 (incl. VAT). Of this a deposit of £300 is required to secure your place, then you may pay the remainder of your fees up-front or in monthly instalments over the 11 modules.

How do I get to the Institute?

By Car - put our address in your Sat Nav:  St Peter's House (Worksp@ce), Institute Street, Bolton, Greater Manchester, BL1 1PZ.  There is free parking on site at the weekend, and during the week two car parks on Clive Street (2 mins walk from St. Peter's House). By Train or Bus - both Bolton Train Station and Bolton Bus Interchange are less than 10 minutes walk from St. Peter's House (It is a 20 minute journey from Manchester City Centre by train).

Do I need to bring my own refreshments / lunch?

Tea / Coffee and biscuits will be provided at break-times during each training day.  You may bring your own lunch, there are kitchen areas available on each floor, or there are plenty of shops / cafes / restaurants within walking distance in Bolton town centre.
