Course Details

Psychotherapy Institute trainees have the following parallel obligations during their first year of training:-

  • To complete 40 hours of weekly therapy sessions with a UKCP Registered TA Psychotherapist or a Certified Transactional Analyst
  • To attend 100% of the training modules (a maximum of two modules can be attended the following year with the year group to catch up due to absence)
  • Two x 2,000 word assignments successfully completed
  • Completion of a Personal Learning Journal which will form the basis for a final 3,000 word assignment on self-development over the course of the academic year
  • Short 10 minute presentation in Module 10 based on one of the two completed assignments

There will be a maximum of 11 weekend modules each academic year which will meet the requirement at the end of the four years, for 600 hours of training for UKCP Registration. At this time, our programme is an in-person training programme delivered at premises in the north of Greater Manchester.

There may be modules relevant to outdoor training (i.e. EcoTA) or online training (working safely and ethically via electronic methods such as chat / telephone / video call) which will be delivered outside of the usual training facilities in St. Peter’s House. However, in keeping with UKATA’s policies, distance learning will not exceed 50% of the total training contact time of the programme.
