Course Overview
This 10-day Diploma draws on Transactional Analysis Theory & Methods and is aligned to UKCP Supervision Standards of Education and Training. Successful completion will lead to existing UKCP Registrants of 3 years or more being added to the Directory as a UKCP Recognised Training Supervisor* through UKATA (UK Association of Transactional Analysis).
The course focuses on building a sound theoretic knowledge, an awareness of the ethical and safety considerations and applying those concepts to practice in a safe and curious environment.
As experienced therapists you will draw on your own experiences and invite you to find your identity as a supervisor.
The course will cover:
Your role and responsibilities as a supervisor working with students, newly qualified and experienced therapists as well as supervising other supervisors
Key concepts and models of both individual and group supervision
Application of these key concepts and theories in supervision
Reflective practice and self-supervision
Practical sessions to enable skills development, self-reflection and feedback

How the training will be delivered
The course utilises a mixture of training methods to maximise the learning opportunities for all students. These include:
Trainer led presentations to the whole group
Smaller group discussions
Supervision practice in Triads
Demonstrations by the trainer
Supervision on taped work
Live supervision
Reflective journaling
Written work: One essay (2000 words)
One tape, front sheet and transcript of 10 minutes of supervision (This must be reviewed by supervisor)In addition, students are required to complete 20 hours of supervision practice (Sessions with supervisees) and 6 hours of supervision (with a qualified Clinical Supervisor) of supervision to qualify.
UKCP Recognised Training Supervisors fulfil additional requirements for working with trainee therapists in addition to working with qualified therapists.
